The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the Government) is constructing the Integrated Waste Management Facilities Phase 1 (I∙PARK 1) on an artificial island near Shek Kwu Chau, south of Lantau Island for the purpose of treating municipal solid waste and utilising the waste-to-energy generated from the waste treatment process.
To support the operation of I·PARK 1, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited will install the 132kV submarine cable circuits connecting Cheung Sha, South Lantau and Shek Kwu Chau Artificial Island for exporting surplus electricity generated from the waste treatment process to the power grid, which in turn increases the use of renewable energy for Hong Kong.
